Children and Family Services (CFS) offers exciting employment opportunities for those seeking careers in social services. All CFS staff members play a vital part in the effort to ensure every child’s right to a safe and permanent home is protected.

Who Are We?
Children and Family Services (CFS) is a department within San Bernardino County, which is dedicated to protecting and promoting the well-being of abused, neglected or exploited children in our county. CFS values collaboration with community agencies and private citizens to accomplish our mission of protecting children and promoting their well-being.
What Do We Do?
Children and Family Services receives, reviews and investigates allegations of child abuse and neglect made within San Bernardino County as well as collaborating with other jurisdictions as necessary. CFS works to prevent further harm to children from physical or mental injury, sexual abuse, exploitation, or neglect through interventions and support services when allegations are substantiated. Our first priority is to keep children in their homes by providing services and resources to stabilize their families. However, if it is determined that a child cannot safely remain at home, placement with an appropriate relative is the first alternative considered. The child may be placed into foster care or another placement if an appropriate relative is not available. The primary concern of CFS is always the safety and well-being of all children.
Our Staff
Children and Family Services (CFS) employees are housed in nine regional offices located throughout the county and one administrative office in San Bernardino. CFS employees a wide variety of positions, all of which work as a team to meet our mission and goals. CFS strives to provide advancement opportunities and a viable career ladder for our staff.
